When is custom software needed?

Entering the same information in two places, writing fake data to leave fields blank that the program doesn't want, exporting the report and correcting it in Excel — when these things accumulate, custom software becomes the norm.
How does the process work?
During the initial meeting, we discuss your work. How long does each task take, how many people handle it, where are they waiting? Writing code before this picture emerges would be like transferring the existing complexity to the digital realm.
Then the scope is put in writing: what will be done, what will not be done, and in what order. If the scope is clear, the price is also clear. After the design is approved, we move on to development, and you see the progress through interim deliveries.
What do you receive upon delivery?
Along with the working system, you receive the source code, database, and all access information. Your team receives training on panel usage. Support continues for minor requests that arise after the launch.
